Continuum - New Portraits by Bryan Meltz

September 09 — October 29 2006

Featuring:

Presented in conjunction with Atlanta Celebrates Photography

The images included in this collection were made in Clarkston, Georgia. Many are of a Somali Bantu family I met in 2003, when they first arrived in America. Through their friendship I was fortunate enough to meet an entire community of African refugees, and witness their journey towards resettlement in the United States. These photographs represent a continuum, a connection between their African traditions and their new lives here in America. They reflect the history of the elders and the promise of a new generation. My hope is that these portraits convey the overwhelming spirit and resilience I have witnessed over the past three years.
