New York, New York: Photographs by Sylvia Plachy
(ATLANTA, Georgia -) Composition Gallery, in association with Susan Todd-Raque, is proud to present "New York, New York: Photographs by Sylvia Plachy", in conjunction with Atlanta Celebrates Photography 10. An opening reception will be held on Saturday September 20th, from 7 to 10 pm and the exhibition will be on view through Sunday November 2nd. Curator, educator, and collection consultant Susan Todd-Raque will discuss the work of Sylvia Plachy at Noon on Saturday October 18th.
Hungarian-born photographer Sylvia Plachy has been photographing the dynamic creative energy of New York City for over 30 years. This exhibition features vintage silver gelatin prints as well as more recent images from Plachy's time as New Yorker magazine's first "Goings on about Town" photographer.
As co-founder of Atlanta Celebrates Photography, Susan Todd-Raque created a forum and showcase for photography, advancing the position of the photographic arts in the Southeast. She has been a guest lecturer on various aspects of collecting art at the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University and the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and has curated countless exhibitions in the Southeast and beyond. I am very grateful for her cooperation and support.
