Beyond Krog Street:
Urban Portraits by Doug Barlow
Composition Gallery presents Beyond Krog Street: Urban Portraits by Doug Barlow, a solo exhibition of photo-encaustic works, featuring twenty-four unique portraits of the Little Five Points neighborhood.
On one wall, graffiti environments are depicted in bold square painterly images shot under Freedom Parkway, Ponce de Leon Avenue, and the Krog Street rail lines, as well as in the Little Five Points business district.
The opposite wall features multiple exposure compositions, each created using three to ten images of the same area, which seek to intrigue the viewer with overlapping imagery in strong, sometimes dark, colors.
Doug Barlow has photographed his Little Five Points community for six years, and Beyond Krog Street is his second solo exhibition of this new work, which he began in 2003.
The show opens Saturday June 24th with a reception from 7pm to 10pm, and continues through Sunday August 20th. A Coffee with the Artist will be held from 10am to 12pm on Saturday July 15th.
