New York, New York: Photographs by Sylvia Plachy

Sylvia's photographs have appeared in over 50 major publications including Aperture, Artforum, Harper's, the New Yorker, the New York Times Magazine, Smithsonian, and Time. There have been numerous exhibitions of her photographs worldwide, including solo exhibits at the Whitney at Philip Morris, the Queens Museum, the Minneapolis Institute of Fine Arts, and Photo Espana in Madrid.
Her work is in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the International Museum of Photography at the George Eastman House in Rochester, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, as well as the High Museum of Art here in Atlanta.
Richard Avedon once wrote of Plachy, "She makes me laugh and she breaks my heart. She is moral. She is everything a photographer should be".
